The Common Bench’s Family Wood Construction Workshop is curated and designed specially for families to experience woodworking together in a fun, casual, laid-back style. Make it a family-date with us.
As a family, you will learn the basic techniques of woodworking such as sawing, drilling, sanding, hammering. Using various types of off-cut wood to create wooden items based on your creativity. The only limitation is your imagination.
Make something together as a family; Kids Hands-on; Crafty Kids; Family Fun
All tools and materials will be provided; no prior knowledge necessary. Tools are only for in-class usage.
Recommended for kids age 5 - 12 years old.
Parental guidance is a must.
Note: As you will be using real woodworking tools (such as saw, hammer, drill), we’d require both parents (mom & dad) to be present per family.
If only 1 adult is available in the family, please do not sign up for this workshop as it will not be suitable for you.

Please note that two adults must be present in each family that signs up.
***Kindly adhere to the requirements of each family make-up. If the family make-up is not adhered to on the day of workshop, we will not be able to allow you to enter the premises to attend the class, no refunds will be issued.

We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time due to weather emergencies, illness, venue availability, or other circumstances beyond our control. If we cancel the workshop, we will issue you a refund. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the class. All tools are for in-class usage only. The Common Bench and its employees, contractors, etc. hereby disclaim all responsibilities for any loss, injury and/or damage which may occur however caused.

Great workshop! The kids had a good time really practicing their woodcraft skills in a safe and guided class environment. Totally recommend it to kids who enjoy some knocks, sawing, filing and gluing. A joy to watch them bring their little wooden toys home!

We were glad that parents and kids were welcome at the session or we would have missed out on the fun! It started with a short explanation of the tools and project, then a hands-on segment. The Common Bench provided quality hand tools and materials that made what might seem tough for little hands easier. They stepped in to guide when needed but left us to build as we wished otherwise. Thank you to the friendly couple of Common Bench for a great time. A clever idea for a pop-up workshop by a cafe too! We had a lovely brunch, learnt something new and brought home new handmade toys.

Interesting workshop. Rare opportunity for kids to experiment with wood material. Simple and safe techniques were shown and the instructor is approachable. Be sure to guide your little ones along too as they may be handling process like sawing, hammering etc. Kiddos felt really proud of their wooden toy creation!
